Methylene Blue Chemist Warehouse: Stocked or Not? (2026)

Methylene blue Chemist Warehouse alternative: blue capsules, a dropper bottle and blue drops in water on a bench

Last updated: October 10, 2026 · By Eternal Elixir Editorial

If you searched methylene blue Chemist Warehouse, the short answer is that Australia’s biggest discount pharmacy chain did not list a methylene blue supplement online when we checked in October 2026. Google’s top Chemist Warehouse results for that search are category and search pages, and none of them is a methylene blue product. This guide explains why, what tends to show up in its place, and how to choose a product that is actually methylene blue.

Key takeaways

  • Methylene blue Chemist Warehouse searches return category pages, with no methylene blue supplement listed online (October 2026).
  • Products called “Methyl” something on pharmacy shelves are usually methylated B vitamins, a different ingredient altogether.
  • For a measured daily amount, look for a labelled supplement such as Eternal Elixir Methylene Blue Capsules (10 mg each, $59.99 for 60) rather than a lab or aquarium chemical.

We also keep a ranked comparison of every methylene blue product we could find for Australians in our guide to the best methylene blue supplements in Australia. This page stays on one narrower question: what happens when you look for it at the chemist.

Methylene blue Chemist Warehouse search: what turns up

Chemist Warehouse’s own search page blocks automated tools, so we could not read its live results directly. Instead, on 10 October 2026 we pulled the live Google Australia results for the search “methylene blue chemist warehouse” and ran site-restricted web searches of chemistwarehouse.com.au and priceline.com.au for “methylene blue”.

Here is what came back:

  • Chemist Warehouse category pages. Most of the first page of Google is Chemist Warehouse’s own pages for blends and supplements, general wellbeing, health foods and Healthy Care, plus an unrelated search page. None of them is a methylene blue listing.
  • No product page on either chain. The site-restricted searches returned no methylene blue product page on chemistwarehouse.com.au or priceline.com.au.
  • Social posts asking the same question. Instagram tag pages and a Facebook group thread titled “What are safe methylene blue brands in Australia?” sit in the same results, which tells you plenty of Australians have gone looking and come back empty-handed.
  • Laboratory suppliers. A scientific chemical supplier’s methylene blue listing also ranks for the search. That is a reagent for laboratory use, which the next section covers.

Two limits apply. We did not check physical stores, where ranges can differ, and pharmacy ranges change. Treat this as an October 2026 snapshot and ask at the dispensary counter if you want to be certain about your local store.

Why the gap? Discount chains give shelf space to products that sell in volume in every store, such as fish oil, magnesium and multivitamins. Methylene blue as a daily supplement grew up in the biohacking and nootropic space instead, and that market buys mostly online from specialist brands.

Near misses that are not methylene blue

The most common mistake is buying something with a similar name. Three products come up again and again.

“Methyl” B-vitamin formulas

Pharmacy shelves carry several products with “Methyl” in the name. One of them, BioCeuticals Methyl-Max, appears in Google’s results for this very search. Its ingredient panel lists riboflavin, activated vitamin B6 (P5P), folinic acid and vitamin B12, with no methylene blue in it. “Methyl” on these labels refers to methylated B vitamins. They are a perfectly reasonable product for their own purpose, but they are a different ingredient with a different job.

Laboratory and aquarium methylene blue

Methylene blue is also sold as a stain for microscopy and as a treatment for aquarium fish. These products are made for those uses. They are labelled by concentration for a lab bench or a fish tank, carry no per-dose directions for people, and are not produced as food or supplement products. We would not take one, and nothing in this article suggests you should.

Blue-coloured drinks and blends

Blue spirulina and butterfly pea flower give drinks and powders a vivid blue colour. They are popular in wellness cafes and occasionally get mistaken for methylene blue in photos. Neither contains it.

Methylene blue Chemist Warehouse shoppers: what to buy instead

If the chemist is out, the practical choice is between a labelled supplement in capsule or liquid form. The table puts the options side by side, including the near misses, so the differences are clear at a glance.

Capsules suit most first-time users. Each one is a measured 10 mg, the dye stays inside the shell, and there is nothing to stain the bathroom bench. The liquid suits people who want to start lower than 10 mg or fine-tune the amount. Our comparison of methylene blue liquid vs capsules goes through that choice in more detail, and if you choose the drops, our guide on how to take methylene blue drops covers dilution and timing.

How to check any methylene blue label

Wherever you end up shopping, these checks separate a supplement from a chemical sold for some other purpose.

  1. Grade. Look for a stated pharmaceutical grade, such as USP, on the ingredient panel. Industrial, technical and stain grades are made for other uses.
  2. Milligrams per serve. A capsule should state its methylene blue content, for example 10 mg. A liquid should state its strength, for example 1% (10 mg per ml), and the serve size in ml.
  3. Directions for people. A supplement tells you how much to take and how often. A product with no human directions was not made for you to swallow.
  4. A certificate of analysis. Ask the seller for the current batch COA. Every Eternal Elixir batch is third-party lab tested for purity and potency, and we send the batch certificate on request.
  5. A local seller you can contact. An Australian business with a returns policy is easier to deal with than an overseas marketplace listing if something is wrong with an order.

Most methylene blue research on attention and memory used low doses. In one randomised, placebo-controlled trial, 26 healthy adults had brain scans before and one hour after a low oral dose of methylene blue or a placebo. The methylene blue group showed increased brain activity during attention and short-term memory tasks and a 7% increase in correct answers during memory retrieval (Rodriguez et al., Radiology, 2016). A review from the same research group describes a hormetic dose response, with opposite effects at low and high doses, which is one more reason to start with a clearly labelled amount (Rojas et al., Progress in Neurobiology, 2012). That review draws heavily on animal studies, so treat it as background on mechanism rather than proof of benefit in people.

Safety before you start

One interaction matters more than any other. Methylene blue inhibits monoamine oxidase A, and a review of reported cases concluded that 13 of 14 cases of central nervous system toxicity linked to methylene blue were serotonin toxicity, triggered when it was combined with serotonin reuptake inhibitor medicines (Gillman, Journal of Psychopharmacology, 2011). The review deals with intravenous hospital doses of about 1 mg per kg of body weight and above, well beyond a 10 mg capsule for most adults. Its author still concludes that all proposed uses of methylene blue reach levels that block monoamine oxidase, so talk to your doctor or pharmacist first if you take any prescription medicine that affects serotonin.

Our article on methylene blue, serotonin syndrome and MAOI safety lists the medicine classes to ask about. Also speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known G6PD deficiency, or have a kidney or liver condition. Methylene blue is a dye, so a blue or green tint in urine is expected.

Methylene blue at Chemist Warehouse: frequently asked questions

Does Chemist Warehouse sell methylene blue?

It did not list a methylene blue supplement online when we checked in October 2026. Google’s top Chemist Warehouse results for the search are category pages, and site-restricted searches found no product page. We did not check stores, so ask at your local dispensary if you want to be sure.

Does Priceline stock methylene blue?

A site-restricted search of priceline.com.au in October 2026 returned no methylene blue product page. As with Chemist Warehouse, store ranges can differ from the website.

Is Methyl-Max the same as methylene blue?

No. Methyl-Max is a B-vitamin formula containing riboflavin, activated vitamin B6, folinic acid and vitamin B12. “Methyl” refers to methylated vitamins. It contains no methylene blue.

Is aquarium methylene blue safe to take?

We would not take it. Aquarium and laboratory products are made for fish tanks and microscopy, are not labelled with doses for people and are not produced as supplements. Choose a product with a stated pharmaceutical grade, milligrams per serve and directions for human use.

How much methylene blue is in one Eternal Elixir capsule?

Each capsule contains 10 mg of methylene blue USP, and the label suggests one capsule daily. A bottle holds 60 capsules, or 60 days at that serve. The 1% liquid holds 10 mg per ml, with a suggested 0.5 to 1 ml daily in water.

Will methylene blue show up on a drug test?

Standard workplace drug panels are not designed to look for it, but it can colour urine blue or green, which a collector may notice. Our article on whether methylene blue shows up on a drug test explains what to tell the person running the test.

Chemist Warehouse is not the only place Australians come up short. We have run the same check for magnesium L-threonate at Chemist Warehouse and TMG at Chemist Warehouse. If you already drink coffee each morning, our guide to methylene blue and coffee covers timing the two together.
