Thorne Australia 2026: Berberine, NR and Glutathione Alternatives

Thorne Australia alternatives: four supplement bottles with berberine, NR, resveratrol and glutathione capsules beside red grapes

Last updated: October 17, 2026 · By Eternal Elixir Editorial

Last updated: October 17, 2026 · By Eternal Elixir Editorial · 8 products compared

$254.95. That is what a 60-capsule bottle of Thorne NiaCel 400 costs from an Australian retailer this week, which works out to $4.25 a day for 415 mg of nicotinamide riboside. If you searched Thorne Australia to find out where the brand is sold and what it costs here, that number is a fair place to start. Thorne is an American brand, and every bottle you buy in Australia is imported stock with an import price attached.

This guide covers four Thorne products that an Australian store holds in stock and that line up with single ingredients Eternal Elixir sells: Thorne Berberine, NiaCel 400 (nicotinamide riboside), ResveraCel (a resveratrol blend) and Glutathione-SR. Next to each one sits the Eternal Elixir bottle that does the same job. Prices were read from live product pages on 17 October 2026. Eternal Elixir makes four of the products on this list; they are our picks, and every figure for the Thorne products is taken from the retailer’s own listings.

Quick Answer

Eternal Elixir Berberine HCl 500mg is our top pick for Australians comparing Thorne Berberine: one 500 mg capsule a day from a 90-capsule bottle costs $0.56 a day, against $4.50 a day for the Thorne bottle at its two-capsule direction. For NAD+ support, Eternal Elixir Pure NR 500mg gives 500 mg of nicotinamide riboside for $0.67 a day, against $4.25 a day for NiaCel 400.

Thorne Australia Prices in October 2026: What a Month Costs

Before the product-by-product detail, here is the short version of what a month of each Thorne product costs in Australia, set against the matching Eternal Elixir bottle. A month here means 30 days at the daily amount printed in each product’s directions.

Key numbers:

  • Thorne Berberine: $134.95 for 30 days at 2 capsules a day. Eternal Elixir Berberine HCl 500mg: $16.66 for 30 days at 1 capsule a day.
  • Thorne NiaCel 400: $127.48 for 30 days at 1 capsule a day. Eternal Elixir Pure NR 500mg: $20.00 for 30 days.
  • Thorne ResveraCel: $184.95 for 30 days at 2 capsules a day. Eternal Elixir Trans-Resveratrol 1200mg plus Pure NR 500mg bought together: $60.00 for 30 days.
  • Thorne Glutathione-SR: $87.48 to $174.95 for 30 days at 1 or 2 capsules a day. Eternal Elixir Reduced L-Glutathione 2000mg: $26.66 for 30 days.

Shipping changes the picture a little. The Australian Thorne stockist we used charges a $19.95 flat rate and ships free over $250. Eternal Elixir ships free on orders over $100 from within Australia. Neither fee is included in the daily costs above.

Thorne Australia vs Eternal Elixir: The 8 Products in One Table

The table ranks all eight products in this Thorne Australia comparison. Price per day is the price per dose at the label’s daily direction: the bottle price divided by the number of days it lasts. Where a Thorne listing gives a range (Glutathione-SR says 1 to 2 capsules), both ends are shown.

Cost per 1,000 mg: The Number That Changes the Ranking

Price per day is useful, but it hides a second question. How much of the active ingredient does each dollar buy? Two bottles can cost the same per day and still deliver very different amounts. So we divided each daily cost by the milligrams of the main active the label lists for that day.

IngredientEternal Elixir (AUD per 1,000 mg)Thorne (AUD per 1,000 mg)How the Thorne figure was worked out
Nicotinamide riboside$1.33$10.24 (NiaCel 400)$4.25 a day divided by 415 mg
Trans-resveratrol$1.11Not comparable (ResveraCel)ResveraCel splits its price across four actives, so a per-resveratrol figure would overstate its cost
Glutathione$0.44$5.83 to $11.66 (Glutathione-SR)$2.92 a capsule at 500 mg or at 250 mg, the two ends of the listed range
Berberine$1.11Not comparable (Thorne Berberine)The listing does not say whether its amounts are per capsule or per two-capsule serve, and a phytosome weight includes its phospholipid carrier

Two rows carry no Thorne figure on purpose. A berberine phytosome binds the berberine to a phospholipid, so 550 mg of phytosome is less than 550 mg of berberine. ResveraCel spreads its cost across nicotinamide riboside, quercetin, resveratrol and betaine. Dividing its whole price by its resveratrol content alone would make it look worse than it is, and that would not be a fair comparison.

The NR and glutathione rows are like for like, and the gap is large. At the label doses, a dollar spent on Eternal Elixir NR buys about 7.7 times as much nicotinamide riboside as a dollar spent on NiaCel 400. For a wider look at NR products sold here, see our nicotinamide riboside supplements compared for Australia, which includes NiaCel bought through iHerb.

The same arithmetic matters for berberine. Our berberine supplements compared on cost guide runs every Australian berberine bottle through it, and the berberine doses, brands and safety guide explains how 500 mg capsules fit the doses used in research.

#1. Eternal Elixir Berberine HCl 500mg — Best for most Australians comparing Thorne Berberine

Eternal Elixir Berberine HCl 500mg is a single-ingredient capsule: 500 mg of berberine HCl from a 20:1 extract per capsule, 90 capsules to a bottle, and a label direction of one capsule a day. At $49.99, that is $0.56 a day and a three-month supply in one order.

Thorne’s berberine bottle costs $134.95 and lasts 30 days at its two-capsule direction. Over three months that is $404.85 for Thorne against $49.99 for one Eternal Elixir bottle. If you want to follow the 1.0 g a day used in the trial described further down, two Eternal Elixir capsules a day cost $1.11 and a bottle lasts 45 days.

Key specs: 500 mg berberine HCl per capsule · 90 capsules · 1 capsule a day on the label · $49.99 AUD · ships from Sydney.

Pros:

  • Lowest daily berberine cost of any product in this comparison
  • One ingredient per capsule, so the dose is easy to adjust
  • A 90-day supply at the label dose in one bottle
  • Every batch is third-party lab tested, with the certificate of analysis available on request

Cons:

  • Plain berberine HCl, with no phytosome or absorption carrier
  • Following the 1.0 g trial dose means two capsules a day

Best for: anyone who wants berberine at a trial-level dose for a fraction of the import price.

Berberine is a strong compound, and it can interact with prescribed medicines. Read our berberine side effects guide and speak with your GP before you start if you take regular medication. Buy Eternal Elixir Berberine HCl 500mg.

#2. Eternal Elixir Pure NR 500mg — Best for NAD+ support at the lowest daily cost

Eternal Elixir Pure NR 500mg holds 500 mg of nicotinamide riboside in each capsule. The label direction is one capsule a day, preferably in the morning, so a 90-capsule bottle at $59.99 lasts three months and costs $0.67 a day.

Thorne NiaCel 400 is the closest Thorne product. The Australian listing gives 415 mg of nicotinamide riboside and 85 mg of betaine (also called TMG) per capsule, one capsule a day, 60 capsules for $254.95. So the Eternal Elixir capsule carries 85 mg more NR and costs $3.58 less per day. Over 90 days the gap is $382.43 for NiaCel against $59.99.

The betaine in NiaCel is a methyl donor. If that is the reason you liked NiaCel, Eternal Elixir sells TMG on its own, so you can choose your own amount rather than taking a fixed 85 mg.

Key specs: 500 mg nicotinamide riboside per capsule · 90 capsules · 1 capsule a day · $59.99 AUD.

Pros:

  • More NR per capsule than NiaCel 400 (500 mg against 415 mg)
  • $0.67 a day, the lowest NR cost here
  • Three months per bottle at the label dose

Cons:

  • No added betaine, so TMG is a separate purchase if you want it
  • NR research in people is still short-term, as the study below shows

Best for: NiaCel buyers who want a higher NR dose for much less. Our NAD+ supplements compared guide sets NR against the other precursors sold here. Order Eternal Elixir Pure NR 500mg.

#3. Eternal Elixir Trans-Resveratrol 1200mg — Best for a high single-ingredient resveratrol dose

Eternal Elixir Trans-Resveratrol 1200mg has 600 mg of trans-resveratrol per capsule, taken as two capsules for 1,200 mg a day. A 90-capsule bottle gives 45 days for $59.99, or $1.33 a day.

Thorne ResveraCel works differently. Its listing combines nicotinamide riboside (415 mg), quercetin phytosome (250 mg), trans-resveratrol (150 mg) and betaine (85 mg), taken as two capsules a day, at $184.95 for 60 capsules. That is $6.17 a day for 150 mg of resveratrol plus NR.

If you like the idea of NR and resveratrol together, buying Eternal Elixir Trans-Resveratrol and Pure NR side by side costs $2.00 a day. That gives 1,200 mg of resveratrol and 500 mg of NR, eight times the resveratrol and more NR than ResveraCel lists, for about a third of the daily price. The trade-off is two bottles and no quercetin.

Key specs: 600 mg trans-resveratrol per capsule · 2 capsules (1,200 mg) a day · 90 capsules · $59.99 AUD.

Pros:

  • 1,200 mg of trans-resveratrol a day, eight times ResveraCel’s listed amount
  • Pairs with Eternal Elixir NR for $2.00 a day in total
  • Single ingredient, so you control each dose

Cons:

  • Two capsules a day and a 45-day bottle
  • No quercetin, which ResveraCel includes

Best for: buyers who want resveratrol at a meaningful dose rather than as one part of a blend. The resveratrol supplements compared for Australia guide covers other local options. Try Eternal Elixir Trans-Resveratrol 1200mg.

#4. Eternal Elixir Reduced L-Glutathione 2000mg — Best for the lowest glutathione cost per 1,000 mg

Eternal Elixir Reduced L-Glutathione 2000mg gives 2,000 mg of reduced glutathione in a two-capsule serve. A 90-capsule bottle holds 45 serves for $39.99, so a day costs $0.89 and each 1,000 mg costs $0.44.

Thorne Glutathione-SR is a sustained-release capsule. The Australian listing gives 250 to 500 mg of glutathione per capsule and a direction of one to two capsules a day with a meal, at $174.95 for 60 capsules. At the top of that range, two 500 mg capsules give 1,000 mg for $5.83 a day. Eternal Elixir gives twice that amount for $0.89.

The sustained-release coating is the one feature the Eternal Elixir capsule does not have. If a slower release matters to you, that is the reason to pick the Thorne version, and you pay for it in milligrams.

Key specs: 2,000 mg reduced glutathione per 2-capsule serve · 90 capsules · $39.99 AUD.

Pros:

  • $0.44 per 1,000 mg, the lowest in this comparison
  • 2,000 mg a day, above the 1,000 mg daily dose used in the six-month trial below
  • Third-party tested, with a batch certificate available on request

Cons:

  • No sustained-release coating
  • Two capsules for the full serve

Best for: glutathione buyers who care most about the dose they get for their money. Our glutathione dosage guide explains how to start lower and build up. Buy Eternal Elixir Reduced L-Glutathione 2000mg.

#5. Thorne Berberine 60 Capsules — Best for buyers who want a phytosome form of berberine

Thorne Berberine is the product most people mean when they search Thorne Australia with berberine in mind. The Australian listing names two forms of berberine: berberine HCl (450 mg) and berberine phytosome (550 mg), with a direction of two capsules a day with meals. A phytosome binds the compound to a phospholipid carrier, and Thorne presents it as a way to help absorption.

The listing does not say whether those amounts are per capsule or per two-capsule serve, so we have not worked out a cost per 1,000 mg. What we can say is the daily cost: $134.95 for 60 capsules at two a day is $4.50 a day, about eight times the daily cost of the Eternal Elixir capsule.

Pros:

  • Combines plain berberine HCl with a phytosome form
  • Well-known label, stocked by several Australian health retailers

Cons:

  • $4.50 a day at the label direction
  • A 30-day bottle, so you reorder monthly
  • Per-capsule amounts are not clear on the Australian listing

Best for: people who specifically want berberine phytosome and accept the import price for it.

Price and where to buy: $134.95 AUD at Ghama Health.

#6. Thorne NiaCel 400 — Best for NR and a little betaine in one capsule

Thorne NiaCel 400 is Thorne’s nicotinamide riboside capsule. The Australian listing gives 415 mg of NR and 85 mg of betaine anhydrous per capsule, with one capsule a day, so a 60-capsule bottle lasts two months. At $254.95 it is the most expensive bottle in this comparison, and $4.25 a day.

The added betaine is the feature that sets it apart. Some people like having a methyl donor in the same capsule as an NAD+ precursor. At 85 mg, though, it is a small amount next to the 500 mg to 2,000 mg servings that standalone TMG products use.

Pros:

  • One capsule a day with NR and betaine together
  • Two months per bottle

Cons:

  • $10.24 per 1,000 mg of NR, against $1.33 for the Eternal Elixir capsule
  • The highest bottle price in this list

Best for: existing NiaCel users who want to stay with the exact Thorne formula.

Price and where to buy: $254.95 AUD at Ghama Health.

#7. Thorne ResveraCel — Best for a one-bottle blend of NR, resveratrol and quercetin

Thorne ResveraCel is a blend rather than a resveratrol product. The listing names nicotinamide riboside (415 mg), quercetin phytosome (250 mg), trans-resveratrol (150 mg) and betaine (85 mg), taken as two capsules a day. The 60-capsule bottle costs $184.95 and lasts 30 days, which is $6.17 a day.

Among the Thorne Australia listings, its strength is convenience. Four ingredients arrive in one bottle, and quercetin is not something Eternal Elixir sells. Its weakness is dose. At 150 mg, the resveratrol content is a small fraction of the 1,200 mg in a daily serve of Eternal Elixir Trans-Resveratrol.

Pros:

  • NR, resveratrol, quercetin and betaine in one product
  • Includes quercetin, which the other products here do not

Cons:

  • $6.17 a day, the highest daily cost in this comparison
  • 150 mg of resveratrol a day
  • A 30-day bottle

Best for: people who value one bottle over dose and price. If pterostilbene, a close relative of resveratrol, interests you, our pterostilbene supplements compared guide covers it.

Price and where to buy: $184.95 AUD at Ghama Health.

#8. Thorne Glutathione-SR — Best for a sustained-release glutathione capsule

Thorne Glutathione-SR uses a sustained-release matrix. The Australian listing gives 250 to 500 mg of glutathione per capsule and a direction of one to two capsules a day with a meal, 60 capsules for $174.95. That is $2.92 a capsule, so $2.92 to $5.83 a day depending on how many you take.

The listed range makes the dose hard to pin down. At 500 mg a capsule, 1,000 mg costs $5.83. At 250 mg a capsule, it costs $11.66. Either way it is well above the $0.44 per 1,000 mg of the Eternal Elixir bottle.

Pros:

  • Sustained-release format
  • A flexible dose of one or two capsules a day

Cons:

  • $5.83 to $11.66 per 1,000 mg of glutathione
  • The listed dose is a range, not a single figure

Best for: buyers set on a slow-release glutathione who accept the higher cost per milligram.

Price and where to buy: $174.95 AUD at Ghama Health.

What the Research Says About Each Ingredient

The research below is on the ingredients, not on any finished product in this list, and it is worth knowing what those studies used.

Berberine. In a three-month placebo-controlled trial published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Zhang and colleagues gave 116 adults with raised blood glucose and blood lipids 1.0 g of berberine a day. Fasting plasma glucose in the berberine group moved from 7.0 to 5.6 mmol/L. Five participants reported mild to moderate constipation. That 1.0 g daily amount is two Eternal Elixir capsules.

Nicotinamide riboside. A randomised, double-blind crossover trial in Nature Communications by Martens and colleagues ran two six-week periods in healthy middle-aged and older adults. NR was well tolerated and raised NAD+ metabolism. The authors called for longer trials, which is a fair summary of where NR research stands.

Glutathione. Richie and colleagues ran a six-month randomised, placebo-controlled trial, published in the European Journal of Nutrition, in 54 non-smoking adults taking 250 or 1,000 mg of oral glutathione a day. Blood glutathione rose at both doses. At six months the 1,000 mg group showed mean increases of 30 to 35 percent in red blood cells, plasma and lymphocytes, and levels returned to baseline a month after stopping.

These are studies of ingredients, and results in a trial group do not predict how any one person will respond. For a plain-English look at what antioxidants are and where they come from, the healthdirect page on antioxidants is a sound starting point.

How We Evaluated These Thorne Alternatives

Eternal Elixir makes the four products ranked first to fourth. They are our picks, and the order reflects that. The Thorne Australia prices come from the product pages of an Australian stockist, read on 17 October 2026. We did not test any Thorne product, and we have not described one as tested.

Within that ownership, the order and the “Best for” labels were set by these criteria:

  • Dose against research (30%): does the label dose reach the amount used in a published human trial of the ingredient?
  • Australian availability and shipping (20%): is it stocked here, and what does delivery cost?
  • Price per day and per 1,000 mg in AUD (20%): worked out from the label direction and the live price.
  • Range for stacking (15%): can the ingredient be combined with others without doubling up?
  • Label clarity (15%): does the listing state the amount per capsule and per day?

Every Thorne product keeps a true “Best for” label below the top four, because each has a feature the Eternal Elixir bottles do not: a phytosome form, built-in betaine, a four-ingredient blend or a sustained-release coating.

Where Thorne Is Sold in Australia and What Shipping Costs

On the first page of Google for Thorne Australia this week, the results were all retail listings: a compounding pharmacy’s vendor page, pharmacy and health-food stores such as Chempro, Ghama Health, Aid Station and Nourish Me Organics, and Amazon Australia. No result compared Thorne with the alternatives Australians can buy, which is why we wrote this page.

The stockist we priced from charges $19.95 flat-rate shipping and ships free over $250. Thorne Australia stock and prices vary between stores, so check the product page and the label before you order. Eternal Elixir ships its bottles within Australia, with free shipping on orders over $100.

If you are weighing up other imported brands too, our Life Extension alternatives in Australia and NOW Foods magnesium threonate alternatives pages use the same price-per-serve method. For the local side of the market, see our top Australian supplement brands list.

Thorne Australia: Frequently Asked Questions

Which Australian stores sell Thorne?

On the first page of Google Australia in October 2026, Thorne was listed by Chempro, Ghama Health, Aid Station, Nourish Me Organics, a compounding pharmacy and Amazon Australia. Range and price differ between stores, so check the product page before you buy. At the stockist we priced from, the four products in this comparison cost between $134.95 and $254.95 a bottle.

What is the best Thorne alternative in Australia?

Our top pick is Eternal Elixir Berberine HCl 500mg. It gives 500 mg of berberine HCl a capsule for $0.56 a day from a 90-capsule bottle, against $4.50 a day for Thorne Berberine. For nicotinamide riboside, Eternal Elixir Pure NR 500mg costs $0.67 a day against $4.25 for NiaCel 400. Eternal Elixir makes both products.

Is Thorne an Australian company?

No. Thorne is an American supplement company, and its products reach Australia as imported stock through pharmacies, health-food stores and online marketplaces. That import route is one reason Thorne Australia prices sit well above the cost of locally shipped bottles.

Is Thorne NiaCel the same as nicotinamide riboside?

NiaCel 400 is Thorne’s nicotinamide riboside product. The Australian listing gives 415 mg of NR and 85 mg of betaine anhydrous per capsule, one capsule a day. Eternal Elixir Pure NR 500mg contains 500 mg of nicotinamide riboside per capsule, without the betaine.

Does Thorne ResveraCel contain resveratrol?

Yes. The Australian listing names 150 mg of trans-resveratrol alongside 415 mg of nicotinamide riboside, 250 mg of quercetin phytosome and 85 mg of betaine, taken as two capsules a day. A daily serve of Eternal Elixir Trans-Resveratrol 1200mg contains 1,200 mg of trans-resveratrol.

How much glutathione is in Thorne Glutathione-SR?

The Australian listing gives 250 to 500 mg of sustained-release glutathione per capsule, with one to two capsules a day with a meal. At $174.95 for 60 capsules, that is $2.92 a capsule. Eternal Elixir Reduced L-Glutathione 2000mg gives 2,000 mg in a two-capsule serve for $0.89.

Are Thorne products high quality?

We have not tested any Thorne product, so we do not rate its quality. What you can check yourself is whether the listing states a clear amount per capsule, whether the dose matches the amount used in published research, and whether the seller can supply a batch certificate of analysis. Eternal Elixir supplies the certificate for any batch on request.

Verdict: Which Thorne Alternative Should You Buy in Australia?

For most readers comparing Thorne Australia prices, the answer depends on which ingredient brought you here.

  • Looking at Thorne Berberine? Eternal Elixir Berberine HCl 500mg costs $0.56 a day against $4.50 and is our overall pick.
  • Looking at NiaCel 400? Eternal Elixir Pure NR 500mg gives 500 mg of NR for $0.67 a day against 415 mg for $4.25.
  • Looking at ResveraCel? Eternal Elixir Trans-Resveratrol 1200mg with Pure NR 500mg costs $2.00 a day for eight times the resveratrol. Thorne ResveraCel remains the choice if you want quercetin in the same bottle.
  • Looking at Glutathione-SR? Eternal Elixir Reduced L-Glutathione 2000mg costs $0.44 per 1,000 mg. Thorne is the option if you want a sustained-release capsule.

Whatever you choose, compare products on the dose per day and the cost per 1,000 mg of the active, not the bottle price. If berberine is your starting point for metabolic support, Eternal Elixir Ca-AKG 500mg is the product we list next to it in that range.
